I dwell now in the land of shadows, between life and death. Life dwindles behind me in sunset and death beckons me toward God’s loving embrace, into the expanding light of a glorious new dawn.
I cherish this time, for the guilt of my failures and life’s burdens grow weaker each day, while the mystery of God consumes me. I pray now only for true humility, where God and Christ Jesus, in all their brightness, still only flicker dimly in silence and shadow.
As one of the prisoners Christ came to free, I wait now in darkness for his gentle touch upon my shoulder.
